Local 27 received their charter for membership with the International Association of Heat & Frost Insulators and Asbestos Workers in April of 1911. For 95 years the Local has been dedicated to assisting its membership in securing employment, defending their rights, striving to provide well-trained productive employees and advancing the interests of working men and women for dignity and respect in the workplace. Heat & Frost Insulators install many different types of insulation
material for the thermal protection of hot and cold mechanical systems.
Insulating is performed in virtually every type of residential and
commercial building in the country, as well as industrial plants,
chemical factories, nuclear power plants, and military and space
facilities. Insulation mechanics select and install the proper material
for each and every type of insulation application. Insulation is
installed using a variety of techniques-stapling, wiring, pasting or
spraying depending on the type of surface to which the insulating
material is being applied.
